Chinese smartphone maker Vivo launched the Vivo V9 in April 2018, priced at ₹22,999, in India. This Vivo smartphone proved to be a hit right from its launch, especially with the youth. Part of its appeal might be its notch display and positioning of the rear dual camera setup, which are similar to Apple’s iPhone X.
Here’s a look at features of the Vivo V9.
The sleek design of the phone resembles iPhone X, although it is made of a plastic shell with a metallic finish. It sports a 6.3-inch IPS LCD full view display with Full HD+ (2280×1080 pixels) resolution and a 19:9 aspect ratio. It sports an iPhone X-like notch at the top. One of the brightest displays in its price range, Vivo ships the V9 with a transparent body cover.
The device sports a vertically designed 16MP + 5MP dual rear camera setup with bokeh mode, HDR and LED flash. On the front is a 24MP camera with AI face beauty, AR stickers and f/2.0 aperture. These specs are among the best in this price category, thus attracting today’s selfie generation.
Processor and OS
It runs on Funtouch OS 4.0, based on Android 8.1 Oreo. Vivo has also taken inspiration for their custom UI from iOS. It is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 626 octa-core processor, coupled with Adreno 506 GPU and 4GB RAM. It has 64GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 256GB.
The Vivo V9 is backed by a 3250mAh battery. To reach from zero to hundred percent charge, the smartphone takes about 2 hours. The fingerprint sensor is located at the back and works well. The face-unlocking mechanism works without a glitch, but it may ask you to use the fingerprint sensor in low-light conditions.
The V9 also comes with a “Gaming Keyboard” and a “Game Mode” that lets you play games without any notifications disrupting your experience. The software comes along with options such as “Smart Motion” to unlock the screen along with “Air Operation,” where you can wave over the proximity sensor to unlock the phone. You also get an iOS-like feature of raise-to-wake your phone.
Vivo V9 has a great camera, stunning display and good design. Its notch-based display, user interface and positioning of the rear camera resembles the iPhone X. However, it is considerably cheaper than iPhone X. This Vivo smartphone is equipped with various smart features that today’s generation looks for in a phone, increasing its appeal among the younger generation.
